iichiko Shinwa
Crafted from a blend centered on vacuum-distilled undiluted shochu made entirely with barley koji, this spirit delivers a refined profile with the delicate and elegant aroma of barley, a subtle sweetness, and a long, memorable finish. With a high alcohol content of 43%, it holds its own among other ingredients, allowing its nuanced character to shine through even in cocktails. When mixed with soda, it offers a refreshing mouthfeel and a lingering, fermentation-driven aftertaste. The name Shinwa (meaning ‘harmonious heart’) symbolizes the beauty of koji, the essence of Japanese culinary culture.
Tasting Note
On the nose shows bright pineapple with hints of white peach, coconut, vanilla, green melon, white pepper and honey suckle. The spirit is balanced on the nose and holds it’s elevated 43% ABV very well. On the palette there are hints of malted barley and honey with a creamy texture. Melon rind, chocolate and vanilla on the finish. The finish is medium to long with a full bodied balanced texture.
